Myofascial Release Brighton

We use Myofascial Release Therapy for the treatment of pain, injury or a clinical condition; also for wellbeing and anxiety management.

During a myofascial release massage session we address the fascia using a combination of both direct and indirect myofascial release techniques. This kind of work produces effective, long lasting results and can be very healing and transformative.

We see immediate results in 80% of cases and we expect to see significant results by week 4 in the remaining 20% of the cases.

Our treatments are relaxing and effective, combining a scientific and holistic approach.

What is Myofascial release

A treatment method consisting of the manipulation of the myofascial tissue. The myofascial or fascial tissue is a spiderweb-like tissue that surrounds the muscles and organs, bones, blood vessels and nerve fibres holding them in place. We could say in a very simplistic way that this tissue holds the rest of our body floating in place.

This tissue travels through our body as a single piece of fabric, it doesn’t divide. This means that when it becomes dehydrated or injured it causes pain and restrictions that not only affect the area where the restriction or injury is but also affect the arrangement of our whole body.

Dehydration or injury of the fascia can be caused by multiple factors including stress, repetitive strain (for example, sitting at a desk for hours), poor diet, other imbalances, tissue overload, etc.

Restrictions and injury of the myofascial tissue cause pain, postural imbalances and autonomic referred phenomena (including symptoms like dizziness, sweating, ear ringing, nausea, etc.)

There are 12 fascial lines strongly interrelated. Most musculoskeletal pain conditions are caused by restrictions or dysfunction of any of these 12 lines anywhere along their path. Included here are some of the most common musculoskeletal conditions in our modern society (pain and/or conditions: lower back, pelvis, neck and shoulders, TMJ, tennis/golfers elbow, arm pain, shoulder girdle, sciatica, etc.)

Identifying, releasing and rehabilitating the trouble area as well as its consequences in other structures is the task of the myofascial release therapist.

There are several myofascial release techniques involving both direct and indirect work that the myofascial release therapist will combine accordingly in order to obtain the most effective result in the least possible amount of time.

Myofascial release therapy is a relatively new treatment method, although it has been around for a while now. As the word spreads, it’s becoming increasingly popular amongst athletes and the general population due to its powerful effect on the body and musculoskeletal pain, its long term benefits in terms of functionality and sports performance enhancement and its ability to cause a big positive impact in stress levels and general feeling of wellbeing.
